Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles participated in a series of meetings with Haitian missionaries and leaders in Dajabón, a city on the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, on September 11 and 12.
On this occasion, Haitian members met with Elder Rasband and other General Authorities and Caribbean Area leaders in a series of training meetings centered on Jesus Christ, strengthening faith, leadership, and the rising generation.

Rasband’s visit began with a special meeting with missionaries of the Haiti Port-au-Prince Mission, during which mission president Fresnel Charles and his wife, Nerlande Saint-Fleur, shared their testimonies. Also participating were Elder Edward Dube, a member of the Presidency of the Seventy; Elder Valeri V. Cordón, General Authority Seventy and President of the Caribbean Area; and the other members of the Area Presidency, Elders Hugo Montoya and Ahmad S. Corbitt, who shared messages of faith and instruction with the young missionaries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Elder Rasband said, “It has been wonderful to be here on the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We have just had a heavenly experience with 114 missionaries from Haiti. It has been a great honor for me to be here and to convey to them the Savior’s love and the appreciation of President Oaks and the leaders of the Church.”

A priesthood leadership conference followed, presided over by Elder Rasband and conducted by Elder Corbitt. The instruction addressed developing lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ, the responsibility of parents and leaders to help individuals prepare to make covenants, strengthening the rising generation, and supporting new converts.

Elder Montoya addressed the responsibility to strengthen the rising generation, while Elder Dube taught about leaders’ responsibility toward new converts. Elder Rasband provided instruction centered on a message of faith and hope.
Later that same day, a second leadership conference brought together priesthood and women leaders, with an additional 167 participants joining virtually. Those invited included stake presidencies, organization presidents, bishops, branch presidents, and other leaders of Haitian congregations.

The conference also included a question-and-answer session under Elder Rasband’s direction and moderated by Elder Corbitt, giving participants an opportunity to ask questions directly to Church leaders.
Elder Rasband invited the leaders to record the spiritual impressions they received during the meeting and preserve them for times when they would need to remember what the Lord had caused them to feel.
The presence of an Apostle of the Lord in the border area with Haiti was particularly significant for Haitian members, as it came seven years after Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, visited Port-au-Prince for the dedication of the Haiti Temple in September 2019.
